Police are asking members of the public to come forward if they have had negative interactions with Michael Tellier, a former Central Saanich resident who has been charged for allegedly possessing child pornography.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, Central Saanich Police said an investigation and subsequent search warrant executed on September 30 led to the finding that Tellier, a man in his late 30s, was in possession of “child abuse material”.

On December 14, BC Prosecution Services approved one charge of Possession of Child Pornography.

Tellier is currently under conditions to not to engage in any activity, volunteer or work, that could bring him in contact with anyone under the age of 18.

He has an extensive history of volunteering with the 676 “Kittyhawk” Royal Canadian Air Cadets in North Saanich and the 89 Pacific Air Cadet Squadron. Cadet membership starts ate age 12.

“While we have nothing [else] that came forward during our investigation, and it was only dealing with child porn, we do ask that members of the public, especially if they have youth that went through any of the air cadets to come forward if they have any concerns about negative interactions they’ve had with Michael Tellier,” said Brailey in a phone call with Victoria Buzz.

Anyone who wishes to speak to police about interactions they may have had with Tellier can contact them at 250-652-4441.

The suspect is expected to appear in court on January 11, 2021.
