COVID-19 exposure notices sent to families of View Royal daycare attendees

Share

Some families of children who attend View Royal Out of School Care received notices to self isolate until the new year.

The notices, sent by Island Health on Sunday, December 20, say the individual or family may have been exposed to COVID-19 and instructs them to self-isolate until January 1, 2021.

The exposure event took place over four days last week: December 15, 16, 17, and 18.

Until the new year, those who received the letter are asked to monitor themselves for the onset of symptoms.

“Testing is not recommended while asymptomatic because results can be inaccurate,” reads the letter, seen by Victoria Buzz.

“Island Health has set up daily monitoring for the duration of your self-isolation period. Please be ready to answer your phone during this period.”

The letter recipients are then advised to inform public health if they develop symptoms, and let the testing call centre know that they have been identified as a close contact of the school.

View Royal Out of School Care is currently closed, from December 18 until January 4, and could not be reached for comment.

It is unclear how many people have been exposed to the virus in connection with the daycare, and an exposure notice for the school has not yet been posted on the Island Health school exposure site.

Island Health could not be reached for comment in time for publication.
