VicPD officers seized a loaded handgun, drugs and cash during an investigation into threats at a temporary housing facility on Friday.

Officers responded to a report of a man with a handgun threatening people at the facility in the 700-block of Queens Avenue just after 9:20 p.m. on December 4.

The man was spotted by police a short time after their arrival as he left a room in the facility. He was taken into custody along with a companion without incident.

VicPD say that the man had entered several suites in the facility, leading officers to search the units.

In the course of their search officers found a safe containing several thousand dollars in cash, drugs including methamphetamine and fentanyl, and a loaded 9 mm handgun.

Police seized these items as part of their investigation.

The man was also taken to hospital at his request for an unrelated medical issue, but was not injured in the arrest.

The man’s companion was released on scene. VicPD are continuing to investigate.
