High winds expected to sweep through Victoria Christmas night

Share

Santa’s come and gone and has left a windstorm in his wake.

According to Environment, a low pressure system is expected to make its way through Vancouver Island Christmas night.

Southeasterly winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90 will develop over the Greater Victoria area late this evening.

The winds are expected to ease to southwesterly 40 to 60 km/h overnight as the system moves inland and weakens.

The weather agency is warning of possible damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur.

Hopefully the turkey is done before the storm hits!
