North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP have made an arrest in connection with a violent incident of road rage that occurred in Duncan on October 9th, 2019.

Police say the incident occurred on Herd Road, when an 85-year-old man was tailgated and passed by a truck.

The driver of the truck then approached the man’s vehicle, smashed out the windows and assaulted the elderly driver.

Officers released a description of the truck and conducted an extensive investigation. The suspect has been identified as 55-year-old Jeffrey Robert Pfeifer of Crofton, B.C.

He has been arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Mischief.

“A random attack of an elderly person was a shock to our community,” said Staff Sergeant Kurt Bosnell in a statement.

Pfeifer is scheduled to appear in court in January.

The case resembles another incident of road rage that occurred just over two weeks ago near Chemainus.

In that incident, a driver in a truck also tailgated the victim, then smashed out the victim’s vehicle window, leaving the victim with minor injuries.
