Social media shows the love for Bonnie Henry after impromptu dance

B.C.’s top doc is getting love on social media after an impromptu dance exploded online.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, the Provincial Health Officer, showed off some brief jazzy moves ahead of a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

The doctor was apparently unaware that cameras had already begun rolling on the conference, and that she was visible in the shot.

That said, Twitter quickly showed the love for Dr. Henry’s apparent display of joy as B.C. prepares to receive its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines.

“Protect Dr. Bonnie Henry at all costs,” wrote one user.

“I just reached a whole new level of appreciation for Dr. Bonnie,” said another.

Not all users were appreciative of the display, with some calling it unprofessional or unbecoming.

“Dancing before announcing the deaths of BC citizens. Classy,” wrote one user.

“She should have saved this stupid dance for her private home,” wrote another. “Grieving families are watching this. Not cool.”

In response to that criticism, multiple users pointed out that the doctor did not know she was on camera, is only human, and working under tremendous pressure.

“She is a normal human being feeling hope,” said one user.

“People on here trashing here are ridiculous. Nobody on Twitter could handle the pressure she has felt. Thank you Bonnie Henry!”
