Suspect arrested in string of indecent acts across Greater Victoria

Saanich Police have arrested a man in connection to a string of indecent acts reported across Greater Victoria over the past two months.

Eleven incidents have been reported, beginning in Saanich toward the end of October and continuing through Victoria, Oak Bay, and the Westshore area.

Police say the details of the reports were similar and involved a man driving a vehicle near female victims on foot. The man would then exposed himself and was seen masturbating before driving away.

The reports continued through mid and late November in Saanich and Oak Bay, followed by several more reports at the beginning of December, including incidents reported in Victoria and Langford.

Saanich police arrested a man from Metchosin on December 10 in connection to the incidents. He has been released with a court date set for early 2021.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Saanich Police Department or local police.

Saanich PD says that since the man’s arrest no further incidents of this nature have been reported.

“This is a disturbing series of events that appear to be connected, however, the investigation is still very active and it is too early to confirm that this suspect identified is responsible for all of these indecent acts,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades.

“Anyone that may have been a witness to these incidents or that was directly approached by someone in a similar manner is asked to please contact their local police agency.”
