Rev your engines, Sidney – it’s time to get into the holiday spirit!
The Torque Masters Christmas car cruise is happening tonight, starting at 5:30 p.m. in Sidney.
According to organizer Nikki Bunn, participants will not get out of their cars at any moment to ensure the cruise complies with health guidelines. Drivers will meet on the road and will be driving nonstop.
“I want everyone to know I have planned this with COVID in mind, which is why there will be no staging area, and the cars will not be stopping other than for lights and stop signs,” Bunn told Victoria Buzz in a Facebook message.
“This will be like a scene out of an old school car movie like American Graffiti, where we just cruise/drive the streets of Sidney.”
About 70 cars are expected to participate in the cruise based on the weather. Thankfully, the forecast is currently calling for cloudy skies – but no rain.
There will be lots of old school muscle cars such as Chargers, Mustangs, Camaros, imports and many more. Newer vehicles will include Chargers and Challengers.
Spectators are reminded to keep their distance from others, and wear a mask if watching from the sidewalk.
Participants will kick-off the cruise at around 5:30 p.m., starting by driving down Beacon Avenue, on to Lochside Drive and around first McTavish roundabout and back on to Lochside. They will head into Sidney and cruise down 5th Street to James White to Seventh street and back down Beacon.
The cruise is expected to last approximately one hour.
“People can expect those streets to be lined with old and new cars and trucks covered with Christmas decorations,” Bunn added.
