The COVID-19 outbreak at Saanich Peninsula Hospital has entered its third week, after Island Health reported two more people tested positive for the virus.

One patient and one staff member have been infected, bringing the total number of patients associated with the outbreak to 19.

Two people at Saanich Peninsula Hospital also lost their lives after contracting the virus.

Island Health says continued testing at the facility confirms that the outbreak is limited to the acute care unit.

In a statement released earlier this month, Island Health announced they have temporarily moved their laboratory service outpatient collections to their Keating Cross Road lab, located at 2140A Keating Cross Road.

The hospital is closed to acute care admissions but the emergency department remains open.

Other outpatient services at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, including medical imaging and day surgery, are open and patients are advised that it is safe to access those services.
