A woman who was leaving her workplace on Saturday night reported an incident where she was followed by a suspicious man.

The woman reported that she was leaving her workplace in the 300-block of Cook Street at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, December 11 when she noticed a “suspicious man” in the area.

According to a police statement, the woman then asked a colleague to walk with her to a bus stop, and noticed the man following both of them.

Eventually, she believed the man had left, and so continued walking by herself.

But then the man showed up again and, she said, kept following her even after she crossed the street several times.

“The woman ran from the area and the man gave chase while he yelled angrily,” reads VicPD’s statement. “The woman flagged down a nearby bus and was able to leave the area safely.”

Police are now seeking witnesses to the incident and more information about what happened.

The individual accused of following the woman is described as a white man, aged between 35 and 45 years old, and stands about 5’10”. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black toque, black sweater, black pants and black boots.

The woman described him as being possibly intoxicated.

Anyone with information about this incident can call VicPD at (250) 995-7654, extension 1 or report anonymously to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
