The B.C. Ministry of Health reported 617 new cases of COVID-19 across the province on Friday, for a total of 56,632 cases since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 139
- Fraser Health: 320
- Island Health: 27
- Interior Health: 81
- Northern Health: 49
- Residents outside Canada: 1
The number of active cases in B.C. has decreased from 6,349 to 6,118.
There are now a total of 358 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 75 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
18 more people have died from COVID-related causes, bringing the provincial death toll to 988.
8,755 people are in isolation, under active public health monitoring, after exposure to COVID-19.
A total of 48,205 people have recovered from novel coronavirus.
Outbreaks
No new outbreaks have been reported, and outbreaks at Amenida Senior Community, North Peace Seniors Housing, Rotary Manor, Royal Arch Masonic Home and Tabor Home have been declared over.
In total, there are 48 assisted-living, long-term care homes, seniors’ rental buildings and 10 acute-care facilities with ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks.

Island Health
27 new cases were reported in the Island Health region on Thursday.
As of Friday, there are 164 active cases remaining in the region, according to Island Health. By Health Service Delivery Area, they are:
- South Island: 41 | Total cases: 362
- Central Island: 96 | Total cases: 484
- North Island: 27 | Total cases: 234
No new deaths were reported in the Island Health region. Eight people are currently hospitalized, including two in intensive care units.

Vaccinations
46,259 (+5,195) people have been inoculated against COVID-19 across B.C. with vaccinations from Pfizer and Moderna.
