Crystal Pool to reopen February 1st after nearly year-long closure

After a nearly year-long closure, Victoria’s popular Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre is reopening for public use.

The swimming and fitness centre will be back in operation on February 1st, with registration online and by phone available starting January 28th at 9 a.m.

“Access to recreation provides much needed physical, mental and emotional health benefits at a time our community needs them most,” said Mayor Lisa Helps.

“Opening Crystal Pool is a significant step in our recreation recovery plan and the safety measures in place allow people to stay safe while they stay active.”

The facility has been closed since March 19th, 2020, when provincial COVID-19 protocols came into effect that banned large gatherings.

However, while other facilities have reopened in the months since then, Crystal Pool has remained closed to perform repairs to its air handling system.

COVID-19 safety will be a part of the pool’s planned reopening, including mandatory advance registration, including pool or fitness visits.

In addition to pre-registration, safety measures will include managing capacity, limiting visits to 90 minutes, and mandatory mask-wearing indoors.

Masks will be permitted to be removed while showering, in the pool, or while participating in a sport or fitness activity.
