Environment Canada issues wind warning for Greater Victoria on Tuesday

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria.

Strong southeasterly winds of 70 to 90 km/h winds are expected to hit the region on Tuesday.

According to the weather agency, an approaching frontal system will spread very strong winds to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

Winds will increase late Tuesday morning and persist into Tuesday evening.

The strongest winds are expected over exposed coastal sections near the Strait of Georgia, Haro Strait, and the Southern Gulf Islands.

Winds are expected to ease behind the frontal system Tuesday night.
