A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for a Victoria couple who were seriously injured in a crash on Highway 97 in Chetwynd, BC on Saturday.

On January 2nd, just before 2:00 p.m., Sean and Andrea Mossey were involved in a serious head-on collision that left both with significant injuries and claimed the life of their family dog, Loops.

The couple were returning to Victoria after helping their son and his family move from Victoria to northern BC.

According to Chetwynd RCMP, officers responded to a head-on collision involving two pick-up trucks on Highway 97 near Willow Creek Forest Service Road.

Upon arrival, RCMP officers found 53-year-old Andrea trapped inside a Chevrolet Colorado pick-up, and her 52-year-old husband Sean outside the vehicle being helped by a passersby.

Andrea, who was in the passenger seat, had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department.

Emileigh Mossey, who created the GoFundMe, told Victoria Buzz in a Facebook message that her mother-in-law’s injuries were quite severe; though her father-in-law’s were severe as well, they were not quite as extensive.

“Local to Victoria and spending the past 25 years of her life dedicated to helping those in need through her service as an addiction and mental health worker, I can think of no person better to deserve support in such a critical time,” reads the fundraiser’s webpage set up by Mossey.

“I am creating this to cover expenses during what will be an extensive hospital stay, and for flights/hotels for their two daughters to come visit, bill coverage etc. They’re being cared for at two separate hospitals, one in Fort St. John and one in Prince George,” reads the page.

The driver of the second vehicle, an F150, suffered minor injuries while the passenger suffered serious injuries, both women are in their thirties and from Fort St. John.

The cause of the collision has yet to be determined and remains under investigation, however, road conditions are believed to have been a contributing factor.

As of this publication, the GoFundme page for the Victoria couple has raised over $5,300 of the $10,000 goal.
