A young driver’s excitement of receiving their licence was short-lived after they were caught doing 72 km/hr over the speed limit in the West Shore area Thursday night.
In a tweet posted by the West Shore RCMP, a driver was pulled over on Metchosin Road after being caught going 122 km/hr in a 50 zone.
The driver told the officer they were celebrating receiving their licence that very day.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 7 days and was issued a ticket for excessive speeding.
