A Nanaimo man was arrested just under two weeks ago for drug-related charges, and hopefully, his actions aren’t contagious.

Terrance Virus, a 39-year-old local, was arrested at approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 17th, 2021. A patrol officer from the RCMP spotted Virus in the parking lot of Port Place Mall.

The Nanaimo man was wanted on two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and the officer promptly arrested Virus on these warrants.

A search of Virus’ person and effects, including a black backpack and a grey satchel, produced almost $21,000 in cash and assorted drug paraphernalia including digital scales and hundreds of zip lock baggies.

Police also seized 5.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 13.5 grams of crack cocaine and 259 grams of fentanyl. They also seized two smartphones and a knife.

Virus has been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and has been held in custody for a court appearance on Monday.
