A brewery in Victoria has temporarily closed its doors after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

Phillips Brewing and Malting Co. posted a statement on its website Saturday evening stating one of its team members had tested positive on January 30th.

The employee was last in the brewery’s retail store, located on Government Street, on Thursday evening from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

“Vancouver Island Health has reviewed our situation and has told us that any recent guests need not be concerned due to our thorough COVID-19 plan and existing precautions,” the company said in its statement.

“Although we are not required to close as a result of this, we have decided to close our tasting room and beer store for the remainder of today, as well as tomorrow, to do a deep and thorough clean.”

Out of an abundance of caution, the brewery closed for the weekend for a deep cleaning and will reopen on Monday, February 1st.
