West Shore RCMP seized drugs, ammunition and a replica firearm from a suspect they arrested in Langford last week on multiple warrants.

The 31-year-old male suspect was wanted on charges including possession of a concealed weapon, theft and driving while prohibited.

RCMP officers tracked the suspect to a vehicle in Langford on January 8th using covert surveillance.

Upon his arrest, the suspect was searched. Police found approximately 60 grams of narcotics, including heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine on his person.

Officers also found evidence of drug trafficking including scales, drug packaging and over $2,000 in cash.

The suspect was also wearing body armour and was in possession of shotgun ammunition.

RCMP arrested the suspect for his outstanding warrants and for possession for the purposes of trafficking, as well as breach of court-ordered conditions to not possess any ammunition.

The suspect remains in police custody for a future court hearing.

A second man who was in the car with the suspect at the time of the arrest was also arrested.

The second suspect, a 31-year-old resident of Sooke, was in possession of a replica firearm that police seized. He has been released on an undertaking for carrying a concealed weapon.
