A Saanich daycare centre is temporarily closed after two children and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

The cases are at the Cloverdale Childcare facility on Quadra Street. Families who use the centre were notified of the situation on January 3rd.

According to a letter sent to parents, the facility was informed of the positive cases over the past week and the facility has been closed until next week out of an abundance of caution.

Operators of the daycare say they have done a thorough cleaning of the facility and following guidelines provide by Island Health.

A copy of the letter posted on Facebook states the facility had been closed for the past two weeks for the holidays and that any exposure is unlikely.

“As we were closed for the past two weeks exposure is highly unlikely but if you have had or do have any symptoms please get tested,” the letter read.

According to Island Health, contact tracers will reach out to anyone who may have been exposed if necessary.
