Saanich Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred last week in Glanford Park.
The assault occurred in the park, located in the 600 block of Kenneth Street at Glanford Avenue, on December 29th at approximately 8:30 p.m.
A 19-year-old woman was accosted by a man not known to her while she was walking in the park. The suspect approached the victim and appeared to be intoxicated, stumbling when walking.
The victim was able to fight off the assailant and reported the incident to police once she was safe.
The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 40-years-old, wearing multiple layers of clothing.
K-9 and patrol units responded, but were unable to locate the suspect at that time. Saanich Police are urging the public to use caution walking in the area while they investigate.
Police are conducting further enquiries, including a neighbourhood canvass and a search for video surveillance in the area.
