Traffic delays expected as crews make emergency sewer repairs in Sooke

Share

Traffic delays are expected Friday as crews perform emergency sewer repair work in Sooke near the Phillips Road bridge.

The District of Sooke says that single-lane alternating traffic will be in place while work is being completed. Drivers should expect delays.

Some sewage may have entered DeMamiel Creek and Sooke River, and the District has enacted its spill response protocol.

Provincial authorities and the T’Sou-ke Nation have been notified.

Crews from Sooke Fire have also responded to the scene with absorbent pads to limit potential spills into waterways.

The District says they will start fecal coliform testing shortly and will continue testing for several days to determine if any environmental impacts have occurred.
