Two men who failed to return to a correction facility in Victoria have been located and arrested thanks to a tip from the public Wednesday morning.

Both Jonathon Muzychka and Dean Reber were the subject of a Canada-wide warrant after failing to return to a community correction facility Tuesday morning.

VicPD issued an alert to the media and public in the afternoon yesterday and were arrested by officers this morning after a tip from the public.

Police said they received the tip around 7:30 a.m. this morning that led officers to an area near the intersection of Pandora Avenue and Vancouver Street.

Officers located both men on the street and took them into custody without incident.

Muzychka is a federal offender serving a 17-year sentence for a variety of offences including manslaughter. He was also charged with theft under $5000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, escape lawful custody, break and enter and robbery.

Reber is also a federal offender serving a 4 year sentence for multiple robbery convictions.

“Officers would like to thank the tipster for helping officers locate and arrest these individuals,” VicPD said in a release.
