A man wanted by police was arrested after a stand-off at a multi-unit residential temporary housing facility that lasted several hours on Wednesday.
Shortly after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13th, VicPD closed the 800-block of Johnson Street for approximately 5 hours, after officers located a man wanted on several warrants.
The person of interest refused to surrender to officers and barricaded himself within a suite at the temporary housing facility.
According to VicPD, he was wanted on multiple warrants for failing to comply with a probation order related to an assault with a weapon incident, along with a number of drug trafficking offences.
The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) responded and after several hours of negotiations, deployed a loud distraction device.
Shortly after 5 p.m., the man surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident.
The man was transported to cells at VicPD where he was held to await court.
