Police are looking for witnesses to an attack in downtown Victoria Friday night.

In a media release, VicPd say that between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. February 5th, a person was assaulted with a weapon in Bastion Square between Government and Langley Streets.

Police received reports of the assault around 7:30 p.m. while the victim was already receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Investigators with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) believe this incident was targeted, and that there is no wider risk to public safety.

The victim’s injuries were first described as potentially life-threatening but are now considered non-life-threatening.
