The organizer of a house party in Saanich was hit with a COVID-19 fine after they were found to be hosting a large gathering Saturday night.

Saanich Police say they responded to reports of a party in the Gordon Head area on February 6 at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Upon arrival at the address, officers saw between 10 to 15 people gathered on a deck of the home. Partygoers spotted police and began to run out of the back door.

When officers spoke to the host, they denied that any party had taken place as there was nobody else there.

“The host was likely unaware that police had arrived and witnessed the party long before they all scattered out the back door,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades.

The host was issued a  $2,300 violation ticket under the Emergency Programs Act for Organizing or Hosting a Non-Complaint Event.
