Though many may have seen this coming a long-standing staple of Greater Victoria has they are officially closing their doors for good.
In a Facebook post, All Fun Recreation Park, located on the same property of Western Speedway, announced “All Fun Karts, Cages and Clubs” would be permanently closed after the sale of the property on Millstream Road.
Plans for the property of Western Speedway lands include the development of affordable housing.
The 81-acre property could also see the construction of a film studio, hotel, and a variety of other uses.
The future of Western Speedway which first opened in Langford in 1954 has been given the green light to operate until 2022, however, the future of racing in the West Shore is uncertain.
The new owners of the property have offered the city $2.5 million to help find a new spot and rebuild the racecourse.
