The BC Ministry of Health reported 682 new cases of COVID-19 across the province on Tuesday, March 23rd.
There has been a total of 93, 253 cases since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
Vancouver Coastal Health: 229
Fraser Health: 333
Island Health: 19
Interior Health: 76
Northern Health: 23
The number of active cases in BC increased from 5,290 to 5,409.
There are now a total of 314 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 83 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
One new person has died from COVID-related causes making the provincial death toll at 1,438.
9,488 people are under active public health monitoring after exposure to COVID-19.
A total of 86,307 people have recovered from novel coronavirus.
Outbreaks
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks.
The outbreaks at Revera Sunwood Retirement Community and the Bruce Jack Mine are now over.

Island Health
Island Health reported 20 new cases of COVID-19 today.
The number of active cases on the island decreased by 18 cases to 217 remaining active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 100 (-2) │Total Cases: 818 (+8)
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 98 (-12) │ Total Cases: 1,655 (+12)
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 19 (-4) │Total Cases: 484 (0)
13 people remain in hospital with 3 in ICU.
There were no new deaths in the Island Health region.
28 people have died since the pandemic began.
Vaccinations and Variants
To date, 539,408 (+18,100) doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC, 87,168 (+29) of which are second doses.
There have been 144 new confirmed COVID-19 cases that are variants of concern in our province.
Of the total number of 1,510 confirmed variant cases, 171 cases are active and the remaining people have recovered.
Of the total, 1,357 cases were of the UK variant, 43 cases were of the South Africa variant, and 110 cases of the Brazil variant.
