19 arrested after RCMP execute search warrant at notorious home in Courtenay

Comox Valley RCMP executed a search warrant at a notorious home in Courtney on Thursday, March 4th.

In a media release, RCMP said they seized a firearm, ammunition and what is suspected to be controlled substances, as well as stolen property.

The investigation was prompted by multiple reports of suspicious and potentially criminal activity going on at the residence known to police.

Police received a number of reports to the residence, which led to the involvement and focused investigation by the Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit.

The search warrant execution on March 4th happened at the residence in the 1600-block of 20th street in Courtenay.

“The members of the Comox Valley RCMP are doing everything they can to address the complaints about this nuisance property, and are hopeful that collaboration with the City of Courtenay will lead to a successful outcome,” said Cpl. Kill Swann of the Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit.

19 people were arrested and several others are expected to face serious charges as a result, among them being violations related to the province-wide COVID-19 restrictions.

The Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit are working with the City of Courtenay to ensure the safety of the residence moving forward, as well as locate those who have had their property stolen.
