Cyclist taken to hospital following Gorge Road collision

UPDATE(8 p.m.) : VicPD says the cyclist’s injuries are now considered non-life-threatening. The area remains closed.

A cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision with a vehicle early Thursday evening, according to VicPD.

Patrol officers were called shortly after 5 p.m. for a report of a collision between a cyclist and a vehicle in the area of Gorge Road East and Bridge Street.

The cyclist was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

VicPD closed the area to Eastbound traffic on Gorge Road East while they investigated. As of 6:45 p.m., that closure remained in effect.
