Pedestrian struck by vehicle in downtown Victoria last week has died

A Victoria woman, who was seriously injured in a collision with a vehicle last week, has died.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18th, VicPD were called to the intersection of Blanshard and View streets for a report that a woman was struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses told Victoria Buzz that the driver of a vehicle was making a right-hand turn onto Blanshard from View Street and collided with the woman, who was in the crosswalk.

There were reports that the pedestrian was bleeding from her head, and appeared to have several broken bones.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

The victim was transported to hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries.

In a media release today, VicPD said the woman succumbed to her injuries.

VicPD are asking anyone with information and with dash-cam or other surveillance video from the Blanshard and View streets area on March 18th to report it to the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-765.
