Port Alberni homicide victim identified as 20-year-old

Port Alberni RCMP have identified the victim found deceased early Saturday morning and have confirmed the death was a homicide.

The body was discovered on a sidewalk just after 7 a.m., in the 3500 block of 4th Avenue.

The death was initially considered suspicious and has now been deemed a homicide.

Police said the victim has been identified as a 20-year-old male from the Port Alberni and Ahousat area.

He was found on the street with stab wounds to his chest and succumbed to his injuries.

The scene has since been cleared but police are asking the public’s help in their ongoing investigation.

“If anyone was in the area at approximately 6:30 am on March 27th or may have witness this incident, please call us,” said Sergeant Clayton Wiebe of the Port Alberni RCMP.

Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other and there is no on going risk to the general public.
