A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in two houses at Mount St. Mary long-term care home in Victoria.
One resident and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19.
The staff member who tested positive is self-isolating at home.
Enhanced control measures have been put in place and Island Health has sent communications to anyone that may be affected.
Measures have been proactively implemented at Mount St. Mary’s which include restricting admissions and staffing levels, prohibiting visitors, doing enhanced cleaning, and screening and testing staff and residents for COVID-19.
Island Health will have an additional presence at the site of the outbreak.
Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Outbreak
Two additional COVID-19 cases have been identified in an ongoing outbreak declared on April 14th at the High Intensity Rehab Unit at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
One patient and one other staff member working in the unit have tested positive for the virus.
In total, six patients and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19 in relation to this outbreak.
Island Health reports that the outbreak remains limited to the High Intensity Rehab Unit and no other areas of the hospital are currently affected.
The hospital will run as normal and all outpatient services and scheduled procedures will continue until further notice.
