BC health officials report 411 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, May 18th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 411 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, May 18th, for a total of 140,075 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

Vancouver Coastal Health: 37
Fraser Health: 285
Island Health: 12
Interior Health: 69
Northern Health: 8

There are currently 4,890 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

133,383 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 360 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 127 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

2 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,650.

Outbreaks

There is one new health-care facility outbreak at Cherington Place in the Fraser Health region.

There are currently 3 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities and 2 outbreaks in acute-care facilities.

Island Health

Island Health have not updated their numbers.

The BCCDC reported 12 new cases on the island today and 170 active cases.

13 people remain in hospital with 3 in ICU.

There was one new death in the Island Health region.

40 people have died since the pandemic began.

Vaccinations

To date, 2,566,936 (+38,538) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC, of which, 131,837 are second doses.
