BC health officials report 494 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, May 14th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 494 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, May 14th for a total of 138,304 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

Vancouver Coastal Health: 140
Fraser Health: 288
Island Health: 8
Interior Health: 33
Northern Health: 25

There are currently 5,548 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

130,953 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 387 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 141 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

2 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,634.

Outbreaks

There are no new outbreaks to report.

There are currently 3 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities and 2 outbreaks in acute-care facilities.

Island Health

16 people remain in hospital with 5 in ICU.

There were no new deaths in the Island Health region.

39 people have died since the pandemic began.

Vaccinations

To date, 2,393,265(+57,752) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC, 124,880 of which are second doses.
