A new dog park is opening in Sooke and the district is looking for feedback

A new fenced dog park is coming to Sooke, and the District is looking for feedback as they proceed to the design phase of the project.

The dog park is planned for the Ponds Park Corridor, an area between Townsend Road and Church Road, adjacent to John Phillips Memorial Park.

Approximately one-half-acre of the park’s Corridor’s 2.5 acres will be used for the dog park.

The District says this location was chosen for its exceptional drainage, which will minimize construction costs, as well as existing infrastructure, such as the current trail network and sound-dampening plantings and trees.

Twelve angle-parking spaces will also be available on Church Street for people who wish to drive to the park.

Construction is expected to take place over the summer, with the park opening for public use in Fall 2021.

Residents who wish to provide input on the project can do so online at letstalk.sooke.ca/dogpark until June 4.

Those with no access to a computer can call 250-642-1634 to fill out the feedback form by phone.
