Ladysmith RCMP escort black bear back into the bush

Share

Ladysmith RCMP took some time to bear down and help the local wildlife the morning.

Officers in cruisers took to the streets to carefully guide a juvenile black bear from the town, according to the Town of Ladysmith.

In a video posted to the Town of Ladysmith Facebook page, the black bear can be seen being gently guided away by a pair of cruisers.

RCMP stayed with the four-legged critter along 2nd Avenue up to the Ladysmith Cemetery, where it disappeared into the bush.

The Town of Ladysmith reminded locals to help manage black bear encounters by limiting attractants left outside, like garbage cans and compost bins.

“We’re grateful here on Vancouver Island to live among nature and that sometimes means coming into contact with wildlife,” they wrote on Facebook.

Wildlife incidents can be reported to the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
