A large section around downtown Victoria is closed following a gas line rupture at a development site.
According to Abstract Developments, a gas line was struck this afternoon on 1201 Fort Street where the new development Bellewood Park is under construction.
“The site is closed and first responders are on site. WorkSafe BC has been contacted and all safety protocols are in place,” Abstract said in an email statement.
First responders are completing door-to-door evacuations.
If you are within a 500m radius and have not been evacuated, the City of Victoria is asking residents to shelter in place.
No one was hurt in the incident.
