Share

The body of a Salt Spring Island woman missing since May 12th has been found, according to BC RCMP.

According to police, Sinikka Gay Elliott, a professor at UBC, left home to run some errands and was never seen or heard from again.

Her vehicle was located later that same day on Juniper Place Road by Search and Rescue crew, but she was not with the vehicle.

Her body was found on Saturday, May 15th.

Although a full determination has yet to be made, RCMP do not believe that criminality was involved in Elliott’s sudden death.

The BC Coroners Service is also investigating to determine how, where, when and by what means she came to her death.

“The Salt Spring RCMP want to thank the over 100 volunteers who helped in the search. No other information is available at this time,” a statement from BC RCMP read.

Anyone with information is asked the Salt Spring Island RCMP at (250) 537-555.
