Saanich Police issued a warning Friday morning after a bear was spotted in a residential area.

Police said the large black bear walked across the yard of a home at around 5:10 a.m. and was last seen walking westbound on Hector Road.

It did not exhibit aggressive behaviour or approach homes and appeared to be alone.

Police weren’t able to track down the bear and have notified the BC Conservation Officer Service.

People living in the area are asked to be vigilant and call police immediately if they see the bear.
