VicPD arrested a man armed with a knife who chased two security guards this week.
On Friday morning, around 10 a.m., outside a temporary housing facility in the 3000-block of Blanshard street, a security guard called 9-1-1 to report that he was currently being chased by a man wielding a knife.
The incident occurred when a security guard and his partner asked the suspect to leave. In response, the man brandished a knife and then chased both guards while wielding it.
The security guard called 9-1-1 while being chased, and fortunately, neither guard was physically injured.
VicPD flooded the area and officers were able to locate the man and a short time later and was arrested without incident — police found the knife in his possession and was seized.
He was held for court and faces charges related to assault with a weapon and breaches of court-ordered conditions not to possess knives.
VicPD are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact them at (250) 995-7654.
