VicPD arrested a man who threatened to stab police and bylaw officers.

Shortly before 9 a.m., on Tuesday, May 18th, officers assisted bylaw officers as they enforced sheltering bylaws in Cecelia Ravine Park.

A man, who was given several previous warnings about his unlawful structure, was asked to collect his belongings and leave the area.

The man refused to comply, became aggressive, and threatened officers with a knife.

Officers worked to de-escalate the situation until the man fled the area on foot, armed with a knife.

Police chased the man on foot and arrested him at gunpoint in the 400-block of Burnside Road East.

The man was transported to VicPD cells where he was later released with a court date and conditions.

He faces recommended charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstructing a peace officer, and two counts of uttering threats.

Anyone with information is asked to contact VicPD at (250) 995-7654.
