VicPD arrest man brandishing knife towards family in Beacon Hill Park

Victoria Police are seeking witnesses and information after an incident of a man brandishing a knife towards a family in Beacon Hill Park on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on May 1st, VicPD responded to a report of a man brandishing a knife towards another man.

Officers attended and learned that the suspect had allegedly brandished the knife towards the man’s family as well, including a child in a stroller.

The family reportedly ran away from the man and called the police.

No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect was located nearby by officers where he was arrested without incident and transported to VicPD cells.

Officers searched the suspect and located evidence of drug trafficking.

A separate investigation into possession for the purpose of trafficking is ongoing.

The man faces recommended charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, and breaching a release order.
