VicPD are seeking witnesses after an attempted carjacking in downtown Victoria Friday morning.

Shortly before 11 a.m. officers responded to reports of a shirtless man running in and out of traffic in the intersection of Douglas and View Streets who was allegedly attempting to pull a woman out of her vehicle.

According to VicPD,  the suspect entered the vehicle through the driver’s side window and attempted to force her out of the car.

He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment due to drug intoxication where he will be released into the custody of officers and held for court.

The man was arrested for attempted carjacking, assault, and breach of probation stemming from a separate recent incident.

VicPD are asking anyone with additional information and witnesses to call VicPD at (250) 995-7654.
