Victoria’s downtown clean team will work weekends over the summer

Victoria is set to see their streets downtown cleaner for the summer.

With support from the City, the Downtown Victoria Business Association (DVBA) announced they will be extending their ‘Clean Team’ service over the summer, seven days a week.

Starting May 8th until September 27th, the DVBA Clean Team will work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. picking up garbage, collecting used syringes, and painting over graffiti.

The City of Victoria funded $40,000 so that the DVBA could use this service downtown longer to promote “vitality and vibrancy” in the downtown core.

“Downtown is the heart of the region and in many ways the economic engine of Victoria,” said City of Victoria mayor, Lisa Helps.

“Thanks to our partners at DVBA and the hard-working Clean Team members for adding in weekends and for helping to make downtown inviting and ready for visitors from across our region as they shop local and visit all the new patio spaces popping up through the Build Back Victoria program,” said Helps.

Downtown businesses who find garbage or other items of concern near their businesses can call the DVBA at 250-386-2238. Callers should leave a message if there is no answer.
