Woman suspected of Harbourcats feline theft cleared of wrongdoing

Share

A woman who was initially believed to have stolen a cat near the Victoria Harbourcats office has been cleared of wrongdoing, police say.

VicPD says photographs and video that they circulated in fact show a woman who was taking her own cat to the vet.

That woman was found by officers and provided documentation proving that the cat in the video was hers, and not the Harbourcats’ feline.

The Harbourcats’ ‘honorary cat’ is now believed to be missing, not stolen.

VicPD says they are no longer investigating.

The owners of Penelope, the lost cat, are asking for help to locate her. Anyone with leads on her whereabouts is asked to call 250-580-1704 or text 250-216-2893.
