108 new cases of COVID-19 reported by BC health officials on Tuesday, June 15th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 108 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, June 15th.

Today also marks the province’s move to Stage 2 in BC’s Restart Plan.

There have been 146,561 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 11
  • Fraser Health: 53
  • Island Health: 4
  • Interior Health: 37
  • Northern Health: 3

There are currently 1,496 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

143,299 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 139 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 39 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

There were no reports of deaths from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,734.

Outbreaks

There are currently 5 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities and 2 outbreaks in acute-care facilities.

The outbreak at Kelowna General Hospital is now over.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 4 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 56 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 41 (-0)│Total Cases: 1955
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 7 (-0) │ Total Cases: 2455
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases:  8 (+1) │Total Cases: 701

2 people remain in hospital with 0 in ICU.

There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

76.1% of all adults in B.C. and 74.4% of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine

To date, 4,102,905 (+54,559) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 657,491 (+44,038) of which are second doses.
