Although the weekend’s weather forecast is gloomy, don’t let that deter you from making some fun weekend plans. With the unpredictable weather on Vancouver Island, who really knows what weather we will get?

There are still plenty of things to do despite the weather, here are 11 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend, June 12th-13th. 

Experience the Bay Centre’s ‘Canopy in Bloom’ 

If you want to view a beautiful dried floral archway and support mental health initiatives in Victoria, visit the Bay Centre’s ‘Canopy in Bloom’ display. During your visit, be sure to take a photo and post to social media using the hashtags #CanopyinBloom and #BlueLoveCampaign.

Try a new local beer

As we near summer, local breweries have already begun launching their new seasonal beer options. Vancouver Island is home to some amazing local breweries for you to enjoy.

Westshore Artisan Summer Market

This weekend only, the Pacific Coast Market Collective presents the Westshore Artisan Summer Market! Browse through the creations of 35+ talented local artisans and pick up something new.

The Little Free Libraries, located across Greater Victoria, have launched their very own Bingo game! Visit a Little Free Library near you to pick up a card (or download one here) and explore your neighbourhood for more libraries to complete your card. 

Learn about Orcas at the Royal BC Museum

The Royal BC Museum’s feature exhibit showcases the spirit of BC’s wild coast, orca whales. In the exhibit, ‘Orcas: Our Shared Future’, visitors will learn about various orca populations, the complex structure of orca groups and the consequences of captivity. Tickets can be purchased up to two weeks in advance.

Sample local wine, ciders and spirits with the ‘Island’s Passport’

The ‘Islands Passport’ is a road map to the best wineries, distilleries and ciders on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Created by the coordinators of the Victoria International Wine Festival and Cheese and Meat Festival, the ‘Island Passport’ includes 20 different vendors to explore.

Take a Victoria Food Tour

A Taste of Victoria Food Tours offers rain or shine tours through downtown Victoria, showcasing the best local cuisine the city has to offer. 

The Tour begins at Victoria Public Market and includes stops in Fan Tan Alley, Market Square, Bastion Square, Trounce Alley, Government Street and the Inner Harbour, with 6 to 8 local tastings along the route.

Experience the symphony at home

The Victoria Symphony and Pacific Opera Victoria have come together to perform in an online symphony. 

This Friday, the Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings premiers online in an immersive experience.
