BC health officials report 113 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, June 16th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 113 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, June 16th

There have been 146,674 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 27
  • Fraser Health: 51
  • Island Health: 4
  • Interior Health: 31
  • Northern Health: 0

The BC Ministry of Health notes today’s case counts are provisional and may be adjusted once verified.

There are currently 1,454 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

143,449 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 134 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 41 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

4 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,738.

Outbreaks

There are currently 4 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities and 2 outbreaks in acute-care facilities.

The outbreak at Spring Valley Care Centre is now over.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 4 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 57 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 42 (+1)│Total Cases: 1960
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 7 (-0) │ Total Cases: 2457
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 8 (-0) │Total Cases: 702

3 people remain in hospital with 1 in ICU.

There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

76.3% of all adults in B.C. and 74.6% of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine

To date, 4,165,142 (+62,237) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 710,847 (+53,356) of which are second doses.
