194 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by BC health officials on Wednesday June 2nd

The BC Ministry of Health reported 194 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, June 2nd.

There have been 144,667 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

Vancouver Coastal Health: 33
Fraser Health: 122
Island Health: 2
Interior Health: 33
Northern Health: 4

There are currently 2,662 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

140,238 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 246 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 70 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

There were four new deaths from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,707.

Outbreaks

There are currently 6 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities and 2 outbreaks in acute-care facilities.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 2 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 52 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 27 (-1)│Total Cases: 1,903
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 25 (-4) │ Total Cases: 2,442
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 7 (0)│Total Cases: 689

6 people remain in hospital with 1 in ICU.

There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region.

41 people have died since the pandemic began

Vaccinations

71.1% of all adults in BC, and 68% of those 12 and older, have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

To date, 3,365,286 (+61,592) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 208,145 (+16,923) of which are second doses.
