199 new cases of COVID-19 reported by BC health officials on Thursday, June 3rd

The BC Ministry of Health reported 199 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, June 3rd.

There have been 144,866 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 68
  • Fraser Health: 89
  • Island Health: 2
  • Interior Health: 34
  • Northern Health: 6

There are currently 2,563 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

140,537 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 224 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 62 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

2 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,709.

Outbreaks

There are currently 5 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities and 1 outbreaks in acute-care facilities.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 2 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 19 (-7) Total Cases: 1,905
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 15 (-4) Total Cases: 2,442
  • North Vancouver Island Active cases: 3 (-2) Total Cases: 690

3 people remain in hospital with 1 in ICU.

There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region.

41 people have died since the pandemic began

Vaccinations

71.8% of all adults in B.C. and 68.9% of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine

To date, 3,426,827 (+61,541) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 229,585 (+21,440) of which are second doses.
